The poor formance of China's sucrose continues despite of some favourable factors like the decrease in raw material cost. Domestic sucrose price declined for the whole year 2013, while it is worth mentioning that unlike other starch sugars like HFCS, China's maltodextrin suffered little from the decline in sucrose price in 2013, mostly because it was seldom used as substitute of sucrose.
Unlike the depression of sucrose, there are some good news about several functional sugars introduced in this issue. Huge prospects of China’s dairy industry can benefit more for China’s FOS and GOS in future. By contrast, China's sugar alcohol producers may meet opportunity from overseas rather than home market. The export of China's sorbitol saw an uotrend in July- Nov. 2013, and it seems that China's sugar alcohol producers may pay more attention to overseas markets, such as Shandong Bailong.
Some export-oriented products had also saw strong overseas demand in 2013, such as tripotassium glycyrrhizinate and sucralose. Besides, there are somethings worth mentioning. For example, the increasing sucralose export share of JK Sucralose and Changzhou Niutang implied that the competition among other domestic sucralose producers would be more fierce in future.
